What it is:

The Chorale has fun singing old familiar songs to the residents of nursing homes. The residents are encouraged to sing along. Each month there is a different theme.

Our Community Outreach activities include performing at various nursing homes, retirement homes, and veterans’ hospitals. On December 18, 2006 as is our annual custom, our director led 25 chorale members in a yuletide celebration at the Veterans’ Hospital in Washington, D.C. performing familiar carols and patriotic songs.

We also have our Northern Virginia Chorale Outreach Singing Group. They perform monthly during the season at area nursing and retirement homes. The group enjoys singing old songs that are familiar to the residents, who are also encouraged to sing along. Each month there is a different theme. Usually the singers perform in unison with an occasional soloist, and instrumental accompaniment. Although we have piano accompaniment, we encourage other instrumentalists to participate. Rehearsals take place the day of the performance, just prior to singing. Anyone interested in participating – singer or instrumentalist – is most welcome to join at any time, whether or not she or he is a Chorale member.
